What Raindrop.io is
Raindrop.io is a cross-platform bookmark manager. Pages you save go into its own cloud library, organized with collections and tags, and you reach that library from its web app, desktop and mobile apps, and browser extensions. You can import existing browser bookmarks into it. It has a free tier and a paid plan with extra features.
Two different models
With Raindrop.io, your bookmarks move into a separate library that is independent of any one browser. That is its main strength if you use several browsers or want the same collection on every device.
Bookmark Organizer keeps everything in Chrome's own bookmarks. There is no second library and nothing to migrate: it suggests a folder when you save a page, cleans up messy folders with a plan you approve, and groups your open tabs. Chrome sync, the bookmarks bar and the built-in Chrome bookmark manager keep working as before.

When Raindrop.io is the better choice
- You use more than one browser, or want bookmarks in a mobile app.
- You prefer tags and visual collections to a folder tree.
- You want your bookmark library to be independent of any browser account.
When Bookmark Organizer fits better
- You live in Chrome and want your bookmarks to stay there.
- Your folders already make sense to you and you want help keeping new pages filed, not a new system.
- Your open tabs need managing as much as your bookmarks. See the tab manager guide.
